4 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 20)

Did...did AEW just book their worst segment ever on the latest Rampage?

This week's Rampage was a strange hour of telly.

Some of the actual wrestling from technical magicians like Bryan Danielson and violence machine Jon Moxley was predictably excellent, but the angles and promos AEW booked were....questionable at best. One has to wonder what the hell was running through everyone's mind when they sat down to pen that Sammy Guevara/Men Of The Year skit, for example.

That, without going too over-the-top, might've been the single most counterproductive thing this company has ever done on television. It made no sense, attempted to sell a match that was then immediately rubbished and only succeeded in making everyone involved even less likeable. Yay?

Put it this way: AEW apologists out there will not be fond of some of the 'Downs' featured here. That's fine, but this writer would love to see somebody try and defend them. On the plus side, the 'Ups' almost saved the day by delivering hard-hitting in-ring action, some brilliant guest commentary and a nifty, almost-Undertaker-esque piece of presentation.

Here's all the good and the bad. Sorry in advance, but the bad is really bad...
