4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (18 Nov - Results & Review)

2. Look Over There!

Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther were having a perfectly reasonable conversation backstage about the Imperium right-hand man learning to stand on his own when things veered into the stupid.

After finishing his chat, Gunther spied Damian Priest in the distance… which, in reality, was about 15 feet away off-camera. He snuck up on his challenger and attacked, only to be overpowered and laid out, giving Priest the ability to pull up a chair and sit over him and deliver the corniest line possible: “In the ring, you’re a general, but in the streets, I’m a king.”

Thankfully, Raw GM Adam Pearce ran over to make sure this abomination of a segment ended quickly.

Fans often have to go along with the “just offscreen” aspect of someone not realizing another wrestler is in the same room or vicinity, but this was insanely stupid for a world title feud. Kaiser and Gunther had a decent conversation on camera just 15-20 feet away from Priest, who didn’t notice it and was caught unawares by an attacking Ring General… and then he still managed to lay out the World Heavyweight Champion.

It’s stupid, it’s lazy, and it didn’t do anyone any favors.
