4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 13)
4. They're Fighting Over Ham
Before memes were even a thing, some fan at WrestleMania X-8 ripped the p*ss out of WWE for the shampoo commercial backdrop to Booker T vs. Edge. "They're Fighting Over Shampoo", said the sign, one that's become legend online. Now, WWE has boldly delivered 2019's version.
They're fighting over ham.
Yes, matches need a reason to happen so there's some context, but surely Heavy Machinery vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro could've been presented differently? It would not have been a stretch, for example, to have Zayn claim that his charges want to make headway in the tag ranks, and they've been impressed by Otis and Tucker enough to challenge them first.
That puts over everyone. Instead, they went some 'Secret Santa route that relied on the usual poor scripting for comedy segments, and there was no talk of Sami leading his boys to title glory. What a missed opportunity this was.
