4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT New Year's Evil (Review)
2. Jinder Joins Up With Indus Sher
Main roster wrestlers going down to NXT can be a mixed bag: It can be seen as a demotion for some, but it also could revitalize someone’s career.
In Jinder Mahal’s case, going to NXT could give him more purpose than he has on Raw or SmackDown. Mahal made a surprise return to NXT by attacking the Creed Brothers while Sanga was telling them that Veer wasn’t here for their tag match. This led to Brutus Creed being laid out, setting up Julius demanding a one-on-one match with Jinder.
That match wasn’t bad, with Creed’s freakish strength and athletic ability on display. But the young superstar got distracted by Sanga (who was on the apron while Julius was on the top rope), which allowed Mahal to avoid a Shooting Star Press, hit a boot and nail the Khallas for the win.
Creed is going to be a star sometime in the near future, while Mahal is… Mahal. But that’s not a reason to thumbs-down this one. The match was fine, keeps the Indus Sher/Creeds match on top, and adds Jinder as a wild card to the mix.
