4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT New Year's Evil (Review)

Downs…

6. Move-Move-Move-Move

Tony D'Angelo Dijak

There are going to be those who feel like the Tony D’Angelo/Dijak match was good because “stuff happened.” There were a love of wrestling moves executed by both men throughout the bout, most decently performed.

But a series of moves in succession is not a good match. This gave off the vibe of two guys running through an arsenal of punches, clotheslines, kicks, neckbreakers and slams to fill the opening segment – not a match that told a story and built toward a dramatic climax.

Even the finish, which saw a handcuffed Stacks inexplicably climb into the ring and insist on fighting for D’Angelo before Tony D ate a Dijak boot, felt like a thing that happened rather than something built up. Most of Stacks’ interference happened during the break, and it wasn’t clear why he was distracting his boss when he couldn’t physically move out of the corner.

Just a disappointing return match for D’Angelo, though hopefully a Dijak/Wes Lee match for the North American Championship will fare better.
