4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT New Year's Evil (Review)

2. Five Months For That?

The “mystery” of who was the glitzy, beautiful woman to ring in the new year was no surprise at all, but what was shocking was the content – or lack thereof – of her return promo.

Tiffany Stratton returned to NXT Tuesday in a rhinestone-studded pink catsuit, seemingly ditching the “daddy’s girl” tennis player outfit she had been wearing during her earlier run.

Stratton started her reboot after five months away by launching into the same pseudo-Valley Girl routine, saying the fans “totally missed me” and that “every woman is sweating like a disgusting pig” at the prospect that she was back.

Tiffany noted that she picked up the business faster in her first nine months than any other female wrestler, and that she spent the past five months watching other women fail miserably to replace her.

The promo wasn’t some huge dismal failure, but after a hyped-up return after five months away, we should have gotten something better than a segment that felt like it was written 30 minutes before the show went live. Stratton’s talent should make up for this shoddy writing, but this did her no favors.
