4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Feb 25)

3. Big E = Vehicular Maniac

Speaking of workers who have been heading in the wrong direction, it's New Day's Big E! The ex-WWE Champion became a much more serious character when he was leading the way over on Raw. Since returning to SmackDown though, he's reverted to pancake-tossing, hip-gyrating type.

Now, nobody is suggesting that E can't thrive as an OTT personality, but having him attempt to run Humberto over with his ATV on Friday was a...unique decision. This fan likes New Day's hijinks, and yet he remains puzzled by why WWE feels the need to go backwards with someone who was powering forwards.

Vehicular homicide = fun-loving babyface trope? Not quite.

The 'sports entertainment' aspect of WWE life came to the fore in a bad way here. There was no logic applied to why Big E would tease murdering a heel - it just happened because somebody thought it'd fill some minutes. That's not good enough.
