4 Ups & 7 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Fight For The Fallen (August 17 - Review)

3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch

Satnam Singh Jeff Jarrett Jeff Hardy

The simple to answer to the reasonable question "what on earth was this?" was "a video game tie-in", but it's not the job of the viewer to make peace with corporate synergy on its own terms if it's not entertaining. This was not entertaining.

There won't be too many places on the internet that will feature such a concentrated amount of pro-Jeff Jarrett content as this very author page, but at no point during the 'Last Outlaw's fantastic AEW run has a match felt so arduous and out-of-place.

Knowingly dumb - Jeff and Karen Jarrett had fake blood tipped on them to aid the aesthetic, a Leatherface rocked up to scare Mrs J away, Jarrett ate his own guitar before winning a belt (!) when he defeated 'The Charismatic Enigma' - the wink-and-nudge of it all did little to justify the 10+ minute run-time, and a Hardy Party arena walk-and-brawl is about as far away from charming as wrestling in 2023 gets. Not hyperbolic to call this a disaster nor one of the single most egregious wastes of AEW television time ever, this brand of garbage would (and has been) rightfully eviscerated on the other channel.

There wasn't even a light at the end of this tunnel - Jarrett won, presumably meaning that another trios/multi-man between the two sides beckons.
