4 Ups & 8 Downs From AEW All Out 2020

Failing to make a big splash.

AEW All Out 2020 was a bit disappointing.

Being honest, the final three matches saved it from being an absolute disaster. Things started poorly, sagged in the middle and didn't get good again until until two tags had a predictably long-winded-but-fun outing that spared Tony Khan's blushes.

Then, things got a bit more interesting when Chris Jericho proved that he's a team player and MJF became the breakout star everyone hoped he would be in the main event. By the end of the pay-per-view, it was hard not to be charmed by that ending triple header, but something just felt...off about the entire night.

Some have pointed to Matt Hardy's near-death moment as one that destroyed the show's momentum. Hmm - All Out was struggling before that nasty bump. Even the promotion's staunchest critics would be lying through their teeth if they said this came across as a big-time, must-see event that deserved to be four hours long. Aside from that aforementioned closing trio, most of the matches on offer were passable at best and downright rotten at worst.
