4 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 24)

5. ‘In Case You Forgot, I’ve Been Fired Before’

There’s one note Drew McIntyre seems to hit in nearly every promo he cuts: he has to remind everyone of how he was fired from WWE because he wasn’t ready or mature enough to handle the pressure of being a WWE superstar. He had to go rediscover himself before he could begin his long journey back to the top.

It was a cool, compelling story in the buildup to WrestleMania 36, but we’re now four-plus months past Mania, and we’re still getting bi-weekly reminders of him being a goof in 3MB once upon a time.

Why? Why do we need the WWE Champion to remind us all the time that he was a total loser? Yes, it might have been an inspirational story in the lead-up to winning the title, but people want their titleholder to be a winner, not someone who constantly lives in the past talking about their losing ways.

Just leave it in the past, please.
