4. Booking Echoes

You weren’t experiencing déjà vu Monday night: That really was two championship contender’s matches, two bouts ended by the champions causing DQs that gives their rivals title matches.

After watching Theory cause a DO from commentary to give Mustafa Ali a United States Championship match – which he granted immediately afterward and won thanks to a massive beatdown – we saw the Usos use Riddle’s scooter to get disqualified in a championship contender’s match against the Original Bro and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Presumably, the DQ win in the tag match would mean that Riddle & Nakamura have earned a “championship opportunity” at some point in the near future.

You’d think someone backstage would have noticed that two #1 contender’s matches were booked to end almost identically and maybe put a stop to it, but that’s maybe expecting too much these days. It’s just more lazy storytelling from the company that “tells stories.”
