On a card where so much was long and laborious, there was something rather satisfying about the company's management of their silliest title on the 'Grandest Stage'.
12 months earlier, Raven, Kane and The Big Show had put together a match for the knackered strap that couldn't possibly be topped. In 2002, WWE simply knocked out several smaller ones instead.
A Maven/Goldust singles match went only 3:17 before Spike Dudley ran in to claim the prize for himself. Crash Holly, Al Snow and The Hurricane pursued the runt of the Dudley litter backstage, with the superhero escaping the segment with the prize. Vignettes later that night saw Mighty Molly turn on Hurricane to take his title and Christian attack her to make good on his earlier loss, before original Champion Maven decked 'Captain Charisma' in the parking lot to end his evening as he'd started.
