4 Ups And 2 Downs From Ultima Lucha Dos-Part 1

Downs...

2. The Tournament Competitors

Cage Lucha Underground
El Rey Network

All of the entrants in the 4 A Unique Opportunity tournament are great wrestlers. We got Willie Mack, Son of Havoc, Texano and Cage battling it out for one of Dario Cueto’s mysterious prizes that would likely have a sinister catch attached to it.

The tournament receives a down here mainly because there wasn’t much of a story heading into it. The company may be excused a bit, as Angelico was injured earlier in the season, likely putting a bit of a wrench in what to do with Ivelisse and Son of Havoc.

The pacing of the season also threw things a bit off, perhaps because of fewer episodes this time around. Willie Mack’s big feud for most of the year was against Marty the Moth. But with that wrapping up a few weeks ago, he was left without someone to fight. The same goes for Cage and Johnny Mundo settling their beef earlier. Texano hasn’t done much of note lately, so he felt tossed in as well.

It’s not a big miss on LU’s part, but it would have been nice for the four wrestlers to have some more storyline support headed into the season finale.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
