4 Ups And 2 Downs From Ultima Lucha Dos-Part 1

Ups...

4. The Unique Opportunity

I could go either way on this one, but I’m going to land in a slight up.

Son of Havoc won the 4 A Unique Opportunity Tournament, but then was immediately screwed out of his prize, which can be a bit deflating. However, what I did like was the importance that the company placed on their title. Havoc could have taken $250,000 in a briefcase, or received a title shot at next season’s Ultima Lucha. He said he’d take the title shot over $250,000,000. It’s nice to see the belt treated in such high regard.

However, his victory did not last long. Dr. Wagner Jr. made his Lucha Underground debut, and quickly beat Son of Havoc to win the $250,000. The debut was nothing special (though the 50-year-old Wagner seemed to be in much better shape than last year’s legendary luchador appearance by Blue Demon Jr), but the angle paid off the storyline of Famous B finding a client capable of winning. A nice way to tie things together.

In the end, Havoc’s win raised his profile, gave him a lot of sympathy, and now sets him on a mission for next season: take down Wagner and Famous B.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
