Well, this was a mess.

If Tomasso Ciampa was the face, why did he immediately go after the cast on Dream's injured arm, then continue to target it during the match. That's heel behaviour. If he was the heel, why wasn't he the one going for the steel chair in the closing stages?

But if Dream was the heel, why was he constantly presented as being at a disadvantage with his injury, thus loosely engendering sympathy? And if was supposed to be the face, then what the hell was he doing on Instagram sending... [PUNCHLINE REMOVED FOR LEGAL REASONS].

Nothing about this match felt genuine, despite the undeniable wrestling quality of the two men putting it on. The crowd noises were turned up to 11 for a feud that would have likely played out to, at best, muted appreciation, and despite a series of excitingly worked spots, there was nothing even remotely resembling a story here.

When you've got a roster as stacked as this, meaningless exhibition matches can be a thing of beauty. But not in the main event.
