4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Feb 21)

2. No True Winner, But Plenty Of Storylines

Dolph Ziggler Kalisto

The best thing about last night's main event was the way WWE used it to further multiple stories. Sure, the finish wasn't perfect, but it kept Luke Harper and AJ Styles looking strong, and it gave the company a good excuse to book next week's main event in advance. Similarly, WWE's handling of John Cena was odd, but his interactions with The Miz at least give the A-Lister something to brag about in their forthcoming promo battles.

These weren't the only stories that WWE advanced in the battle royal, however. The ongoing Dolph Ziggler vs. Kalisto/Apollo Crews feud continued when Ziggler superkicked Kalisto out of the ring, but was quickly dumped-out by Crews. A hacked-off Ziggler retaliated by attacking Kalisto with a chair in the aftermath, but Crews chased him off, and their rivalry must continue.

Finally, there was the ongoing Dean Ambrose/Baron Corbin situation. Having pinned Corbin at Elimination Chamber and eliminated him from last night's match, Ambrose has now scored two major victories over The Lone Wolf. Corbin, however, utterly destroyed Dean following his PPV roll-up, and did the same on last week's SmackDown. They're neck-and-neck at the moment, and that's likely how things will continue ahead of their expected Intercontinental Title bout.

Aside from Mojo Rawley, everybody left this match with a sense of purpose. Nice job, WWE.
