4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (June 17)

3. Only 3 Matches

This feels like a pretty poor gripe to have, considering the high quality of the matches on offer, but only three of the buggers? Come on now, NXT. You can't just get the audience hooked and then cut them off cold turkey. They're jonesing, man. Have a heart. This wouldn't feel like such a problem if all of the matches felt like they were contributing in some tangible way to their overarching storylines, but only the main event fulfilled that goal. Amore/Cassady/Carmella vs Trish Stratus and The Chuckle Brothers was a good match no doubt, but the feud between the Sawfts and the Sweetboys feels like it's really ready to end. With a clean victory over the villains, all that's left is for the titles to be on the line and the feud will be all tied off. The longer it takes for that to happen, if there's no further character development for the vanilla Blake & Murphy, the more frustrating it will get. Similarly, Charlotte's match featured strong work, especially from the Flairmaster, but considering that Dana Brooke didn't get involved in any way, other than a weak backstage post-match interview, it was limited in terms of the purpose it served.
