4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 16)

1. Cesaro Beating Rusev Was Treated Like A Big Deal

Wins and losses should matter. Too often in WWE they aren't seen as important and it doesn't make sense, so when Cesaro beat Rusev clean on Smackdown it was a significant win for him. He celebrated by running outside the ring and even did a slide on his knees just because he was excited like some kid that scored his first goal in football/soccer. Give credit to the announcers for putting it over as a big deal by mentioning it was the first time Rusev got pinned in a TV match.

The match was great too. It was 15 minutes of hard hitting action by two powerful guys who are stars on the rise. Both of these guys could be viable main event players for WWE in the next few years if they are given the chance to do so.

There was a bit of a bad spot where Cesaro nailed him with an uppercut that didn't connect that well. I think that was the finish of the match, but then he picked up Rusev and hit the Neutralizer to end it for good.

Unlike in the main event that had a poor ending, the win meant a lot to Cesaro and it made you feel emotionally invested in the match. That's the way pro wrestling should always be.

WWE should make it a priority to push Cesaro up the card in the second half of this year because he has the potential to be huge.
