4 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE NXT DEADL1NE
2. Stilted And Unnatural
If NXT really is supposed to be a developmental territory, one of the areas they need to improve on is wrestlers coming across naturally on camera.
Ivy Nile, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter have been on NXT television for a while now, but their backstage interaction looked like first-year drama students reading lines off a cue card offscreen. Carter especially sounded wooden reciting her comments about respecting Nile for reporting Julius Creed’s injury. Ivy also sounded stilted as she had a “totally natural and unplanned” conversation backstage.
Not everyone is going to be gifted on the mic, but if you’re going to insist that wrestlers cut promos, either help them rehearse better, or find ways for them to sound like human beings interacting with other human beings.
