4 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Backlash 2017

2. A Skippable PPV

If you missed Backlash Sunday night and are just reading to get caught up and decide whether to watch it, save yourself the trouble.

Other than the baffling decision to turn former jobber-to-the-stars Jinder Mahal into a world champion in the span of a month, this was a totally forgettable PPV. That might sound a little strange when you consider that the PPV featured Shinsuke Nakamura’s in-ring debut and a United States Championship title match between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens, but Nakamura’s match was pedestrian, and the U.S. title bout ended in a countout.

So if you’re dying with curiosity, skip ahead to the main event to see the most unlikely, least-deserving WWE Champion since Vince McMahon. Otherwise, enjoy a nice spring day.
