An easy critique you could make about the breakup of the Hype Bros is, “So what?” It’s not like Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley were some beloved tag team that had connected with fans for years. And it’s not like Mojo punching Zack from behind was on the level of Shawn throwing Marty through the Barbershop window.

But if the breakup gives us a new, aggressive direction for Rawley, then so be it. He (and the tag team) wasn’t going anywhere, and the persona of an aloof goof certainly wasn’t going to win championships. Ryder is always a guy fans seems to rally around, making him a perfect fall guy to help get Mojo over.

And the new Mojo, yelling at Zack, “Show me your killer instinct!” was way more interesting than the hyper goof. Sure, it might not lead anywhere regardless, but it’s worth trying.
