4 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Nov 23)
1. Grizzled Youngsters Beat The Veterans
On the surface, seeing a pair of new faces pick up a substantial win over a tried and tested force should be classed as a positive story. But when said force comes in the form of former NXT UK Tag Team Champions and all-round charismatic charmers Grizzled Young Veterans, something doesn't quite add up.
For months, Zack Gibson and James Drake have found themselves shuffled into the pack, given only dodgey comedy skits revealing the true potential of their double-crossing tactics to get by on whilst the likes of Kool Kyle, Von Wagner, Josh Briggs, and Brooks Jensen are given sizeable pushes in the tag division.
And while that latter team getting the rub does at least feel like NXT 2.0 is building towards something in the future, did this victory over the veterans really sell you on the bar room brawlers being anything more than a flavour of the month? Whereas in GYV you have a set of outstanding talkers, supreme workers, and genuinely experienced talents who can hold down a division and make it the talk of the town.
The pair either need to haggle their way onto the main roster - with even that being something of an unsettling gamble at this stage - or reconsider whether they actually have a future in this revamped locale.
