40. Mic Check?

After receiving the biggest pop heard on RAW since 2001, Stone Cold picked up a mic and proceeded to attempt one of Mick Foley's heralded cheap pops... Inexplicably however, he failed. Austin picked up the mic and said: "Hey it's good to be back here in Dallas, Texas..." But the crowd just kept their noise from the Texas Rattlesnake's entrance going. They didn't pop until the second sentence of the promo when Stone Cold told of how he started his career in Dallas way back in 1989. The powers that be failed to turn his mic on for the crowd to hear. The millions watching around the world could hear what the former WWE Champion was saying, but the thousands in attendance couldn't. Austin's first sentence didn't have that customary echo that every promo cut in front of a live audience on live television has had since the dawn of time... Thankfully they managed to salvage the situation pretty sharpish so those thousands in attendance could hear what their home state hero was saying. It was a false start of sorts, if you will...
