3. Vs. Bryan Danielson - Ring Of Honor: Testing The Limit 2004
A word of warning to anyone planning on watching this match; it is a long, long wrestling match. Not as long as originally planned, as one of the rumours running around at the time was that it was going to the whole three hours of the show, which quite frankly would have been ridiculous. I'll never understand the obsession of extremely long wrestling matches, length for the sake of length. As it is, this 2 out of 3 falls goes an impressive 76 minutes, with the first fall not taking place until almost three quarters of hours worth of action, Aries was fairly new to ROH at the time, and this was something of a true coming out party for him. Of course, Bryan Danielson (or Daniel Bryan to the WWE viewer) is a total machine, and could arguably wrestle 76 minutes with a child and it would be top notch. The opening moments may be plagued by some slow resting, indicating the time to come, but once the hit their stride this is a true wrestling epic. Aries ends up picking up the match 2-1, but not after a tour de force of impressive spots, great psychology and technical wrestling majesty. One other side note from this match is the quality of the commentating. helped in no small part by the great work put in by none other than CM Punk.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
