5 Biggest Winners & Losers From AEW In 2024
7. Loser: Chris Jericho
How can Chris Jericho—one of the best of all time and a bona fide Hall of Famer who even won two titles this year and is the reigning top champion of Ring of Honor—earn a spot on this list? By having a full year of nothing but less successful repeats of things he's already done in AEW.
Given his musical career with Fozzy, Jericho won't appreciate this comparison, but his 2024 was less of a greatest hits compilation and more of an equivalent to when you go to a concert and hear the classics, but the singer can't hit the high notes anymore and you'd have been better off with a cover band doing their own spin on those songs you love.
I say this as someone who actually finds some aspects of The Learning Tree fun, but it's impossible to deny it's just a rehash of The Jericho Appreciation Society.
He feuded with Orange Cassidy over a coat that was destroyed four years ago. That spot with The Conglomeration dumping change on Jericho's Bentley was a dud facsimile of better car spots done nearly 30 years ago.
The angle with mentoring Hook, being The Nueve instead of The Ocho, and everything else was just a rerun, and if Jericho's best he has to offer these days is already copying his shtick in just five years, maybe he's been sipping a little bit too much of the bubbly.
