5. Kenny & Mikey

Kenny Mikey Spirit Squad

Kenny and Mikey have done little but get the snot beaten out of them since returning a couple of weeks ago. Brought in by The Miz, Dolph’s former Spirit Squad stablemates were used as tools to poke, prod, and antagonise the challenger in his Intercontinental Title quest. They were partially successful, but Ziggler always got the upperhand, and their interference at No Mercy only saw them banished from ringside, and Miz defeated.

They wrestled a handicap match against Ziggler last night, and they lost again. Furthermore, Mikey and Kenny took part in a failed triple team after the bell that saw them and Miz ran off by Slater and Rhyno, so not only did they fail to win in a 2-on-1 situation, but they were made to look like cowards by SmackDown’s Tag Team Champions.

Let’s apply a little bit of perspective, though. Kenny and Mikey were absolutely nowhere to be found a few weeks ago. Their initial return was thought to be a one off, but no: they’ve continued to play an important role in Miz and Ziggler’s feud, and it’s a role both play to perfection. Aged just 30 and 33 respectively, Kenny and Mikey are still perfectly capable performers, and they’ve been plucked from wrestling obscurity to become part of SmackDown’s most exciting feud. That in itself marks them as winners, despite their onscreen fortunes.
