5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE SummerSlam 2016

3. Loser: Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks and Charlotte delivered another thoroughly enjoyable one-on-one clash at SummerSlam. We should expect anything less from these two, but they brought an almost shocking level of intensity to the table last night, and while several of the high spots were just flat-out dangerous, they produced one of the night’s best matches.

The result sucked the life out of the Barclays Center, however. After a hard-fought war of attrition, Banks locked Charlotte in the Banks Statement, but Charlotte countered by rolling Sasha’s shoulders to the mat for the 1, 2, 3.

With the finish, WWE have completely undermined everything they’ve built for The Boss. She’s one of WWE’s most popular performers, and her Women’s Title win on Raw a few weeks ago was one of 2016’s most satisfying moments. Now, her reign ends after less than a month, her momentum is gone, and her “big moment” was all for nothing.

The title’s back around Charlotte’s waist, and Banks’ first reign will forever be known as a disappointment.

There’s word that Sasha suffered an injury during the match, and she’s been pulled from all WWE Live Events taking place over the next 33 days. If she is indeed injured then there’s every chance WWE had to change the outcome mid-match and give Charlotte the title, but regardless, The Boss’ big ascension story has ended with a whimper.

Where does she go from here?
