Kevin Owens’ affiliation with Chris Jericho reeks of WWE not knowing what to do with KO, but they’ve made it work. Somehow, Owens has come-out of his Battleground loss to Sami Zayn with infinitely more purpose and direction than his long-term rival, and while his SummerSlam performance wasn’t anything to write home about, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

JeriKO are great together. They’re two of the most charismatic guys in the company, and their chemistry is excellent. Whether working a tag match or belittling Tom Phillips backstage, Jericho & Owens have been consistently entertaining together, and they successfully overcame Enzo Amore & Big Cass in SummerSlam’s opening match.

A surprising result given Enzo & Cass’ popularity, but one that bolsters the victors, and suggests their union may be more than a temporary affair.

Fans are going to want to see Owens in a prominent singles spot before long, but the tag team makes sense at the moment. With the Gallows/Anderson feud seemingly over, The New Day are in need of fresh heel foils in the tag division, and JeriKO are perfect opponents. They’re tight, cohesive, and most important of all, genuinely funny.

Their win establishes them as a credible threat in the tag division. Big things are surely in their immediate future.
