Kalisto had recently begun a new partnership with Sin Cara -- following the departure of his original running mate, El Local. Together, Kalisto and Sin Cara proved to be an exciting and competitive tandem as they won the number one contenders tournament. Despite losing to the Ascension at the last Takeover event, Kalisto seemed to determined to prove himself on Thursday night. With his new partner, Sin Cara, by his side, Kalisto took it to the Ascension from the word €œgo.€ While it was no easy battle by any means, Kalisto and Sin Cara were able to topple the Ascension, becoming the new NXT Tag Team Champions in the process. The Ascension€™s 364 day reign had come to a crashing end.
