In just over a week's time at SummerSlam, a new title will be unveiled - the WWE Universal Championship - which will be recognised as the premier title for the Raw brand. It will be up for grabs in what's certain to be a great match between two-time WWE Champion Seth Rollins and main roster newcomer Finn Bálor.

No matter who wins the bout and the title, the Universal Championship is off to a good start.

Rollins and Bálor are two of the most acclaimed wrestlers in the world, and each has spent the past couple of years proving his reputation to WWE fans (or NXT fans, in Bálor's case). Their first meeting is highly anticipated, and the prize hanging in the balance is all the more prestigious for it.

With a great champion waiting in the wings, the Universal Title will follow in the footsteps of some of WWE's current and past championships - and it will no doubt outdo some of the others. In the more than 50 years since the WWE Championship was created, many other titles have come into existence.

Some got off on the right foot with great champions, while others came in behind the eight ball, doomed from the very start.

Here are five great inaugural WWE champions, and five that sucked.
