5 Great Inaugural WWE Champions (And 5 That Sucked)
2. Michelle McCool - WWE Divas' Champion
Fans fed up with Roman Reigns's never-ending push, take note: when it comes to undeserved success, Reigns has nothing on Michelle McCool.
For many years, Raw had the women's division, while SmackDown had the cruiserweight division. SmackDown still had women wrestling on the brand, but as there was no prize for competition, it was usually the less-polished workers who ended up on the show (such as Torrie Wilson).
After the cruiserweight division was disbanded in 2007, the blue brand began to emphasise women's action. The next year saw the introduction of the Divas' Championship.
McCool and Natalya each won "Golden Dreams" matches to qualify for the inaugural title match at the 2008 Great American Bash, and their list of opponents (Cherry, Kelly Kelly, Layla, Maryse, and Victoria) shows how weak the division was. Still, McCool - who was bland and unpolished both in the ring and as a character - didn't deserve to be given the win.
She would go on to hold the belt for five months, adopting an obnoxious heel persona during a reign that saw her do jumping jacks during her matches. Between McCool as champion and the design of the Divas' Title belt itself, the championship got off to a very bad start.
