5 Huge Dolph Ziggler WWE Moments That Never Went Anywhere

5. Dolph Ziggler Wins The World Heavyweight Championship From Edge - Raw February 15, 2011

Dolph's first feud over the World Heavyweight Championship was with multi-time champion Edge. Edge defeated Ziggler at the 2011 Royal Rumble with the title on the line, but just weeks later, "The Showoff" would win the belt from him. Granted, his victory wasn't the most auspicious of title wins - on the episode of Smackdown taped February 8, Edge and Ziggler collided for the title, and Edge won with the Spear. The week before, though, acting Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero banned the move, so on February 15, she officially stripped Edge of the belt and handed it to Ziggler. Ziggler could have had an early career-making run with the World Heavyweight Title, weaseling his way into victories over challengers - and maybe even retaining the title at WrestleMania in a hot undercard match. Instead, Teddy Long immediately booked him in a rematch with Edge, and "The Rated R Superstar" won the title back only 11 minutes and 23 seconds after he lost it. Ziggler experienced no long-term gain from winning the championship and ended up playing second fiddle to Snooki at WrestleMania.
