Brock Lesnar's very public battle with diverticulitis was a major talking point over the course of his MMA career. Diverticulitis is an intestinal disorder that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion had been (unknowingly) dealing with for about a year before it was discovered. Lesnar underwent major surgery in an effort to treat the potentially life threatening condition.

He would return to the Octagon following his surgery. However, he didn't look like the same dominant fighter he had been prior to the procedure, managing to pick up just one very hard-fought victory following his return. Lesnar's post-diverticulitis record stands at 1-2(1). It's worth noting, prior to the diagnosis, that Lesnar's record was 4-1.

While it's impossible to measure just how much of an effect the disorder had on his career, it certainly put a damper on it —leaving MMA enthusiasts to forever wonder just how dominant a diverticulitis-free Brock Lesnar may have been.
