3. KALISTO DOES GOOD LUCHA THINGS

Kalisto earns a battering on the wrestling Internet, and not without cause. Worse than Booker on promos and botchier than a blindfolded Original Sin Cara in the ring, the man has done little to earn the weird amount of pushes he has received over the last two years. Three times WWE has attempted to elevate him.

This week, the man, with Lince Dorado, wrestled a superb match, going some way to restoring that battered reputation. Gorgeous stereo posturing to establish how little separated the two men; seamless mat work; over-the-top aerials that felt genuinely impactful, as opposed to the faint shoves that WWE calls dives; a referee who wasn't portrayed as a complete moron, whose nous was used to fashion a fabulous false finish; a simple yet absorbing story of deteriorating sportsmanship: this was really quite something. Were it not for the odd timing issue, and the customary dead crowd, this would have slotted in seamlessly to the Cruiserweight Classic. At one point, the referee had to instruct both men to sell following one of several dazzling top-rope aerials - and the finish was one conspicuous second away from pure perfection - but Kalisto deserves due credit.

He has to eat a lot of sh*t, so it's only fair that we eat those words.
