5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (June 1)
2. C(razy)MLL
Crazy happenings in Mexico of late, in which CMLL has altered business practises going back decades by (all but) announcing the debut of Fénix - a luchador who works and will continue to work for AAA and The Crash, in contravention of CMLL's usual inflexibility re: talent sharing. What's also curious is that business isn't in decline, which is why most talent-sharing agreements historically occur.
This is a major development in the lucha landscape, one Dave Meltzer per Wrestling Observer Radio was mystified by, given the treatment of Konnan. His return has never been entertained in the full 26 years since; K-Dogg was one of several acts to depart to AAA in 1992, thus denting (briefly) CMLL's monopoly over the Mexican arm of the industry.
Or perhaps they simply watched his WCW run.
Fenix - as theorised by Meltzer - will likely be joined by his brother Penta El 0M as part of this game-changing development. This would see Fénix and Penta El 0M become the most hard-working Mexican wrestlers on the scene today, were it not for El Ligero.
