4. Is This The Dumbest Move In Wrestling Today?

The thing about wrestling is that it's pretty stupid.

If you were flung into the ropes, knowing full well that your opponent is likely going to smash your face in with a lariat when you bounce back off them, why wouldn't you simply use them to stop your momentum? If you were lying on your back, having taken a fairly routine bump, why would you lie there and await a sharp elbow to the heart? If deliverer of said elbow had incapacitated you for at least five three counts, wouldn't they just attempt a cover?

It's best not to scrutinise the charade too closely - but Kofi Kingston has recently made this impossible.

He has debuted a new manoeuvre in which he falls backwards from the top rope and relies on his opponents to catch him. You know, the guys who want to inflict pain upon him in order to win wrestling matches. In reality, it's no different to any aerial attack which requires the recipient to stand in position for an incongruous amount of time. This corporate team bonding exercise, though, is somehow much more stupid. It's a trust fall by name - he trusts the opponents he is in a fight with to save him from harm.

The old guard might have a point when they complain that wrestling has gone completely backwards.
