5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (March 30)

2. Shane Will Miss 'Mania, Maybe

Ooh You're Hard

Wrestling is a genre of entertainment that constantly generates astonishment.

A fortnight ago, the idea of Daniel Bryan performing at WrestleMania, with Shane McMahon not cleared to compete, was pure fantasy. This week, even for those disenchanted by the Shane McMahon character, it became a grim and unfair reality. WWE Superstars wrestle night in and night out with a view to performing on the Grandest Stage. To be less facetious, this is an astonishing turn of events, if indeed that is what's happening. While Dave Meltzer reported once the news broke that Shane is out, WWE on SmackDown put together and promoted his tag team match with Bryan against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 34. Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer retracted his statement.

This could be a case of whoa-oh, only smoke and mirrors - WWE did advertise a match between Owens and Zayn that was never going to happen - but it would be peak Shane McMahon, absolute brick sh*thouse that he is, to convince officials to hold on a week just in case he recovers in a fortnight from the diverticulitis condition that gobbled up Brock Lesnar's colon and retired him from MMA.

If Shane does bounce back from this, then Jesus Christ. His character will at last translate as authentic.
