5 Most Notable NXT Alumni (Who Never Had A TakeOver Match)

3. Heavy Machinery

Otis and Tucker are one of the most popular acts on the SmackDown’s tag team scene at present. Whilst they may become champions at some point, they don’t currently need the titles to be relevant, with Otis’ entertainment value both in and out of the ring is keeping their stock high. Tucker functions as the duo’s straight man and together, they have their act nailed.

Called up to the main roster alongside the aforementioned Lacey Evans at the back end of last year, Heavy Machinery were quite well established in NXT. Their run was probably intended to be much longer, given that they only had a couple of throwaway title matches on TV against the Authors of Pain and the Undisputed Era during the 18 month tenure.

Most notable teams are eventually given at least one proper championship programme that culminates in a TakeOver encounter. Otis and Tucker may have been next in line after the Undisputed Era’s late-2018 rivalries with fellow face teams Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch and Mustache Mountain, but their main roster move curtailed any possibility of that.

As a result, they stand as the only major NXT tag team that never got to enter the ring at a TakeOver event and we’ll never know how a potential title-winning Otis worm would’ve gone down in front of a rapturous Full Sail crowd.
