5 Most Notable NXT Alumni (Who Never Had A TakeOver Match)

2. Alexa Bliss/Carmella

From a female standpoint, the early years of NXT were dominated by two groups. The first, the trailblazing trifecta of Paige, Emma and Summer Rae paved the way for the ‘Four Horsewomen’ – Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley – who have now knocked down seemingly every barrier in their ascension to main event glory.

After Charlotte won the NXT women’s title at the initial TakeOver event in 2014, some combination of the four women were the participants in the championship match at the next six events, freezing out anyone else that came in during that time, including Alexa Bliss and Carmella.

Both were featured more as valets than wrestlers during their NXT tenures, with Carmella accompanying Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady to the ring and Alexa Bliss evolving from ‘glitter princess’ into the heel we know her as today through her management of Blake and Murphy.

The reintroduction of the brand split in 2016 necessitated a mass of call ups and both Alexa and Carmella were drafted to SmackDown. They were both in NXT limbo somewhat at the time given that Enzo and Cass had been promoted, Blake and Murphy had been broken up and Asuka and Nia Jax had come into the women’s main event scene at TakeOvers to fill the void left by Sasha, Becky and Charlotte.

Both have done fantastically since; their somewhat stark NXT runs an afterthought in the wake of their runs with the Raw and SmackDown women’s championships.
