Story: As wrestling fans now know, there was a reason Joanie 'Chyna' Laurer skedaddled from the WWF in the Spring months of 2001. With her relationship bond to Triple H falling apart, Chyna was horrified to learn that Hunter was now seeing one Stephanie McMahon, and the writing was really on the wall for the 'Ninth Wonder Of The World'.

By the turn of the millennium, the WWF wanted to try something a little different with Chyna. After years of being more closely linked with the male roster, the company wanted her to dominate the Divas division. Winning the WWF Women's Title at WrestleMania X-Seven from Ivory, Chyna then defended against Lita, before leaving the promotion in November.

Even though she made her last appearances on TV in May, Chyna was scheduled to face Trish Stratus in a feud shortly after facing Lita at Judgment Day, but it was reportedly Chyna who vetoed the idea, unhappy with her standing on the roster.

Why People Believe It: Chyna's career was in a funny place at the time. If she had just found out about Triple H and Stephanie, there's every chance that she wasn't thinking straight. Couple that with the fact she didn't exactly look thrilled about being 'demoted' to working with other women, and there's a good chance Chyna knocked back a program with Trish.

Should We Believe it: It makes sense that the WWF would want to feature Trish more heavily after her involvement in the massive McMahon family angle which culminated at 'Mania X-Seven. Stratus was learning to wrestle, and it seems everyone knew it was only a matter of time before Chyna left, so maybe the company were preparing Trish to be her successor as champion. Being honest, Chyna was on her way out the door, so if she did refuse a feud with Stratus, it was likely nothing personal.
