5 Potential Last-Minute Replacements For John Cena At WWE Royal Rumble
1. Shawn Michaels
Every year, Shawn Michaels tops the list for potential surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble, and every year, he never shows up. However, this year, an appearance from HBK seems a little more likely. The reason, of course, being that, after eight long years, he finally came out of retirement last year at WWE Crown Jewel to team with Triple H as the pair took on The Brothers of Destruction.
While that event was marred in controversy, Michaels' performance was somewhat of a pleasant surprise. While he was initially protected by the format of a tag team match, and eventually found himself going it alone when Triple H was seriously injured mid-match, ring rust wasn't too much in evidence. Sure, he may not have been up to his legendary 'Heartbreak Kid' standard, but he could still go and that's more than he needs to make a brief appearance in the Royal Rumble match.
The can of worms has been opened and Michaels finally did what he said he would never do, so could we see him do it all again to fill in for John Cena at the Royal Rumble?
