5 Pros And 4 Cons Of Bullet Club Elite Going To WWE
6. Con: The MSG Show Could Be Screwed
In what has to be one of the ultimate blows to Vince McMahon and WWE's ego, Ring Of Honor recently announced a "G1 Supercard" in conjunction with New Japan to be held at Madison Square Garden. Although Titan Towers tried to interfere to keep their rivals out of their spiritual home, ROH prevailed, and this WrestleMania weekend, while NXT will have their TakeOver special in Brooklyn's Barclays Center, some of the biggest stars from Ring Of Honor and New Japan will be putting on a potential show of the year.
... that is, unless WWE has anything to say about it. The thing about G1 Supercard is that they're playing up the idea that an absolutely huge match is going to take place there. Like, say, Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada for the first time ever outside Japan? Or Kenny Omega vs. Kota Ibushi without a 30-minute time limit? That latter one New Japan has been actively protecting, and Kenny himself is claiming such a match needs to take place in a "legendary building bigger than Budokan." So in all likelihood, if Bullet Club Elite stay with NJPW/ROH, Omega vs. Ibushi will be the marquee matchup.
But, if Bullet Club decide to accept WWE's solid gold boats, that could throw a cog in G1 Supercard's hope of having a killer main attraction. Not to be a cynic, but something like Jay Lethal vs. Matt Taven wouldn't exactly set the world on fire.
