5 Rare Before-They-Were Famous Wrestling TV Appearances

5. Jimmy Hart's Band The Gentrys On TV In The 60's

Listen to any WCW theme from the mid-90's right on through to the closing days of the promotion, and there's a good chance that Jimmy Hart had something to do with it. Themes such as Hulk Hogan's 'American Made' and even rip-off pieces stolen from real bands, like Raven's entrance music (which was blatantly a take on Nirvana's 'Come As You Are') all have Hart's fingerprints. No big deal, right? Jimmy Hart was just someone who had an ear for a tune, and was helping out his then-employers, WCW by creating some entrance music. In reality, the loudmouth manager had long been a part of the music industry, stretching right back to the 1960's when he performed as part of a happy-go-lucky group known as The Gentrys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ-8PcxcBmw Hart made his debut as a wrestling manager in the late 70's, being brought into the fold in Memphis by none other than Jerry 'The King' Lawler. Long before he was carrying a megaphone and barking encouragement to his wrestlers from ringside however, Jimmy was playing in a rock n' roll band who had a minor streak of success in the 60's with their hit song, 'Keep On Dancin'. Playing the tune on TV many times during that period, it's pretty funny to see the man who would go on to be known as the 'Mouth Of The South', managing the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Hart Foundation, hamming it up in front of a national television audience. In the picture accompanying this entry, Hart is the man third from left, pretty much front and centre, just like he would be in the likes of the WWF and WCW years later.
