5 Reasons Why Jim Cornette Is The Biggest Heel In Wrestling Right Now

1. He Believes In What He Says

More than anything else Cornette believes about wrestling, he feels this is the core axiom: the people have to believe it.

Part of that believability is having a heel who is convincing in his role. To make a heel convincing in their role, that heel needs to feel justified in their words and actions, and that stems from the performer feeling as though they are, in fact, in the right. Just like with Bret Hart and his heel turn on American audiences in 1997, Jim Cornette has taken his genuine views on wrestling in modern times, combined it with his smarmy, loud-mouthed managerial persona, and created the best heel in wrestling.

Regardless of whether or not Cornette actually hates Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi (and if he thinks they’re akin to genocidal nazis), he’s channeled his actual disgust at their comedy wrestling, and presented his views in a manner so audacious that it has made people genuinely believe he is so bitter and hateful as he presents himself.

And for all we know, he actually could be! Maybe he truly is as rage-filled and hateful as his outward persona would suggest. Most of us will never know. Cornette is always going to keep us guessing with every new feud he starts, but either way, wrestling fans are going to be invested to see just what he says next.

Because nobody is better in wrestling at working people than the Louisville Lip.
