After such big name, former champions like John Cena, Brock Lesnar and even Seth Rollins, Sheamus being crowned WWE Champion was seen by many as a drop in prestige. No disrespect to Sheamus, but he was not on the level of the previous champions and WWE did him no favors in the way they had booked Sheamus prior to winning the title. With WrestleMania 32 just around the corner, there's no way Sheamus could've carried the title into the biggest show of the year and been viewed as anything but a lame duck champion. He just didn't have the heat that the WWE Champion needs this time of year. The Money In The Bank victory was seen by many as a head-scratcher since the character was no where near over enough to be able to wear the company's crown jewel successfully. There was little evidence that lead the audience to believe the Irishman would work as WWE Champion again, but WWE obviously felt differently. Sure enough, Sheamus' eventual championship reign fell flat and being paired with heaters that were either jerking the curtain or constantly losing mid-card matches didn't help him either. The company needed to get the title off of Sheamus quickly and, by putting the title on Reigns at RAW instead of TLC, it re-established the importance of watching Monday Night RAW which leads to my next point.
