5 Reasons Why The Build To Survivor Series Has Been Terrible
1. Overshadowed By Comedy Acts
The largest consequence of WWE's poor buildup to the fall classic has, in turn, become one if the buildup's more annoying problems. Because of the monotonous, repetitive programming, the WWE fanbase have had to look somewhere else on the card to get their fix for entertainment. They've found it in a pair of comedy acts. On Raw, it's a man with a list. On SmackDown, it's a man with no chin.
I'll admit that under normal circumstances, comparing Chris Jericho to James Ellsworth is like comparing apples to compost, but in this case, regardless of the quality of each act, they are having the same effect on their respective shows, and that's overshadowing the main plot for a Big Four PPV. Why should we care about this clash of brands if the best part of Raw is Y2J spewing rapid-fire catchphrases and scribbling on a clipboard? Why should we invest in a clash of titans if a skinny, dim-witted wannabe getting beaten to a pulp every week is a more compelling story?
This isn't a knock on either man, but WWE instead. By providing lackluster, artificial, unimportant storytelling, they've forced the audience to look for something else to keep them engaged, as opposed to what they should be engaged in.
