5 Things AEW Does Better Than NXT (And 5 NXT Does Better Than AEW)
AEW...
5. Tag Team Wrestling
The most recent Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic helped right NXT's tag division after a dark period, with the introduction of the Grizzled Young Vets from NXT UK and The Broserweight's formation bolstering the lagging ranks. This has been derailed somewhat by the ongoing global health crisis (Pete Dunne, James Drake, and Zach Gibson remain grounded) though there are more reasons to be optimistic about the division today than a few months ago.
AEW remains the benchmark, however.
Much of this is down to the expertly-told Hangman Page/Kenny Omega story. It has not only established them as one of the most fluid, cohesive tandems on the planet, but helped rebuild Page into one of AEW's most over stars and showed, conclusively, that Kenny Omega is equally adept in the tag and singles realms. Richer in psychology, character, and storytelling than flipz and movez, that Revolution match was outstanding.
AEW's depth is astounding here, with tenured teams like Proud and Powerful, the Lucha Brothers, Best Friends, and SoCal Uncensored rubbing shoulders with Private Party, Jurassic Express, The Butcher and the Blade, and more. It's an absurd collection of well-booked, well-presented wrestlers, fulfilling the Bucks' early promise of an industry-leading division.
