9. Mustn’t - Overexpose Him
Wyatt’s return truly was a pop for the ages. The fans were at fever pitch, to the point that, had he not appeared, there’d have been genuine outrage. The temptation will of course be to put him front and centre right away, capitalise on that heat.
If we’ve learned one thing over the whole Wyatt saga, though, it’s that a little Bray goes a long way. When he was the Southern cult Bray, there was room to manoeuvre; early on, at least, he felt just about grounded in reality, and captivated on the mic.
This looks to be something closer to spooky Fiend Bray, though. We’ll consider just what his character should and shouldn’t be in time, but The Fiend absolutely works better as a special attraction. Any horror movie connoisseur will tell you that, the more you see the monster, the less scary they become.
We saw on Saturday night that Bray Wyatt can pack more into a two minute vignette than a lot can in a 20 minute match. Every time he turns up, it should be as close to that moment as possible. If the office wants their money’s worth from his no doubt lucrative new contract, well…
