Watch any of Goldberg's initial appearances back in WWE from late-2016 and it's hard not to spot just how enthused the fans were. When big Bill spoke from the heart about wrestling in front of his son, making his wife proud, and just generally kicking ass again, it felt real. That made it simple for Goldberg to forge a connection with those who had missed him, but it also revealed something else.

Newer fans who hadn't witnessed Goldberg's prior runs in WCW or WWE must have been alarmed at just how effortlessly likable big Bill was. After all, it's a trait WWE have struggled to imbue their babyfaces with for years.

Yet Goldberg nailed it during his first promo in 12 years.

A long-forgotten hero making an unexpected return is bound to have that effect, but there was clearly more to it. When wallowing in the aura of Bill's natural charm, guys like Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns looked like complete frauds.
