5 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (Jan 13 - Results & Review)

2. Why Should We Care?

AEW Collision Mogul Embassy The Righteous Lane Archer Jake Roberts
AEW

The match itself was fine, but why would anyone give a damn about Mogul Embassy defending the ROH Trios Titles against Lance Archer and the Righteous?

In the Righteous, we have a team who've not been seen on AEW TV for two months, who couldn't beat a broken down MJF in a handicap match at WrestleDream, whose only AEW success has been a few minute-long squash matches, and they're teaming with a freezing cold Lance Archer who's barely been seen in AEW over the past year.

Added to that, Brian Cage and the Gates of Agony are an extremely bland trio who, admittedly can deliver some fun spots between the ropes, but are currently presented as an immediately forgettable act bar the ever-entertaining presence of Prince Nana.

Likewise, Mogul Embassy holds a set of belts which are likely the most redundant, needless titles in either AEW or ROH these days. If you give a sh*t aout the ROH Trios Titles, more power to you. For most of us, these belts could vanish tomorrow and nobody would notice or mind.

While the match itself nicely picked up the pace as things broke down towards the finish, the major highlight - at least for this writer - was Jake Roberts landing a great punch on Nana.

All six men worked hard, the bout was okay, but there was just a general sense of apathy towards this one, for there wasn't anyone you particularly wanted to root for or wanted to see get their ass kicked.

Should Jay White and the Gunns take those ROH Trios Titles from Mogul Embassy on Wednesday, they're at least more featured, prominent, entertaining figures who would serve as an upgrade on Cage and the Gates of Agony. That said, the trios titles of a company that has no television might have the impact of bringing down the Bang Bang Gang and simply just continue to clutter up AEW programming.
